Phu Tho Technology Business Incubator, HoChiMinh City University of Technology

The HoChiMinh City University of Technology (HCMUT) is a multi disciplinary training and research center for college, undergraduate and graduate programs. At HCMUT it is the School for Industrial Management (SIM) which is forming the TBI set-up team. The SIM pursues an educational mission of offering qualified training programmes in management, such as project management, technology management, quality management, etc. and providing knowledge of various engineering fields which shall enable its graduates to co-ordinate effectively with technical personnel in managing tech-based processes / products. This combination seems a perfect mixture for setting up a TBI: all the members in the Phu Tho TBI team have a background in engineering/ research as well as in business management/ economics. Very big success of Phu Tho TBI is the acquisition of financial and human resources support from the DOST - Department of Science and Technology from HCM City. The DOST has granted the financing for the Phases 1-3 for Phu Tho TBI, and even one of its staff members - an engineer working in the field of technology assessment - is integral part of the Phu Tho TBI team. DOST has a big interest in seeing the Phu Tho TBI becoming a success, due to its wish to multiply this approach if it works well.
