Thailand

Short Summary

The project “Technology management and innovation in Southeast Asia” aims at strengthening the economy of Thailand by establishing technology business incubators (TBIs) and activating entrepreneurial competency.

Major task of TBIs is to support business startups as well as small and medium-sized enter-prises (SMEs) planning the commercialisation of new technologies.
The “German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development” (BMZ) promotes the project which is realised by three project partners:

InWEnt, NSTDA and EXPERPLAN

Main objective of the project, which runs from July 2004 until March 2006, is to support the set up of up to four pilot-technology business incubators in three different regions of Thailand.

A training programme with workshops, seminars, trainings and intensive coaching will enable the future staff of the TBIs, the local and regional stakeholders and the Thai project partner "National Science and Technology Development Agency" (NSTDA) to support business incubation and provide the related services.

These pilot-incubators are intended to be the nucleus for the development of a whole system of incubators all over Thailand thus guaranteeing sustainable support for entrepreneurs.
